Takashi Mukai graduated from Faculty of Engineering, The University of Tokushima in 1987. In 1987, He joined Nichia Corporation and engaged in the development of GaAs-based light-emitting diodes (mainly GaAs-based crystal growth by LPE). Since 1991 he has engaged in research and development of GaN-based devices (mainly GaN-based film growth by MOCVD). He is now "Senior Principal Researcher" of Nichia Research Institute.
